Shannon McKinnon

Shannon McKinnon has been practicing immigration law in various capacities for her entire career. She is committed to helping noncitizens successfully navigate the immigration system to achieve their personal and professional goals in the United States. She loves finding strategic solutions and sharing her knowledge about this notoriously complex area of the law. She has deep experience as a removal (deportation) defense litigator and has represented numerous individual clients and families seeking a wide variety of family-based and humanitarian immigration relief and benefits, including complex asylum cases.
Shannon has particular expertise in the intersection of criminal and immigration law – often referred to as “crimmigration.”
Shannon previously practiced employment-based immigration law at FordMurray in Portland. Prior to this, she served as the Legal Director at Immigrant Justice Corps (“IJS”) where she led IJC’s in-house legal team to provide affirmative and defensive immigration representation within New York City. Shannon previously practiced in the Immigrant Rights Program at the American Friends Service Committee in Newark, New Jersey and the Immigration Law Unit of the Legal Aid Society in New York City. She represented adults and juveniles in all stages of removal proceedings and developed proficiency in crimmigration. Shannon also engaged in various community education initiatives and advocated for local policy reform on immigrant rights issues.
Kelsey Lee

Kelsey Lee has always been passionate about global migration and its impact on individuals, families, and communities. Her early experiences working with immigrants and refugees as an Education and Youth Coordinator at the Asian Community and Cultural Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, and teaching English in Thailand through the Fulbright Program, solidified her commitment to immigration law. These experiences inspired her to pursue a law degree with the goal of becoming an immigration attorney.
Since entering the legal field, Kelsey has represented clients in a wide range of immigration matters, including employment-based immigration processes, removal proceedings before immigration court, and cases involving individuals in immigration detention. Kelsey also has experience representing individuals before the Maine Department of Labor in unemployment benefits appeals.
Kelsey finds the most rewarding part of her work to be the relationships she builds with her clients. She values taking the time to understand their unique goals and priorities and is gratified by helping them achieve successful outcomes. She also enjoys the problem-solving aspect of immigration law, particularly when the law and your life circumstances are not in alignment. Her attention to detail, strong listening skills, and commitment to clear communication allow her to fully support her clients throughout their immigration journey.
